北海道大学大学院先端生命科学研究院では，下記の要領で教員（助教）の公募を行います。
[募集の背景]
北海道大学大学院先端生命科学研究院では，光生物学研究室において助教を募集します。本分野では，蛋白質が機能を発現する分子機構の理解を目指して，光受容蛋白質，とりわけ微生物型ロドプシンを主な対象として研究を進めています。構造中間体の分光学的・電気化学的な時間分解観測を基軸として，蛋白質内部の逐次的な反応が機能を生み出す仕組みを明らかにする研究を行っています。さらに，その知見に基づく新機能の創出や，光受容蛋白質が関わる生命現象の理解，環境・医療分野等への応用を目指しています。このような分野の研究・教育を進めるために，蛋白質の生物物理学的実験手法に関する知識と経験を有し，光受容蛋白質の分子機構解析や機能創出に意欲的に取り組む方を募集します。また，既存の手法にとらわれず，新たな測定手法や実験系の開発，計算科学的手法の導入などを通して，研究を発展させる意欲のある方を歓迎します。

[職務内容] （雇入れ直後）大学院先端生命科学研究院，大学院生命科学院及び理学部（全学教育を含む）に係る教育研究に従事するとともに，全学及び研究院等における各種委員会委員等の管理運営業務を担当します。着任後は，菊川峰志准教授と協力して光生物学の研究を進めていただきます。

[担当科目] 大学院では生命科学院生命科学専攻生命融合科学コースおよびソフトマター専攻における講義科目（英語による講義を含む）を担当，学部では理学部生物科学科（高分子機能学）における専門科目および学科・学部共通科目，その他全学教育科目を担当します。
[募集人員] 助教 1名（常勤，任期5年，再任可，再任の場合の任期は5年とし，1回を限度とする。ただし，業績審査により任期の定めのない教員とすることができる。）

[Recruitment background]
Faculty of Advanced Life Science, Hokkaido University invites applications for a assistant professor position in the Laboratory of Photobiology. The laboratory’s research aims to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying protein function, with a particular focus on photoreceptor proteins, especially microbial rhodopsins. Using time-resolved spectroscopic and electrochemical measurements of structural intermediates, we investigate how sequential reactions within proteins give rise to their functions. We also aim to create novel functions based on the knowledge gained from these studies, understand biological phenomena involving photoreceptor proteins, and explore applications in environmental and medical fields. To advance research and education in these areas, we seek candidates with knowledge and experience in experimental biophysical approaches to proteins who are highly motivated to study the molecular mechanisms and functional engineering of photoreceptor proteins. We also welcome candidates who are eager to advance their research by developing new measurement methods and experimental systems, or by incorporating computational approaches, without being limited to existing methods.

For undergraduate course, specialized course for department of Biological Sciences (Macromolecular Functions) in School of Science. Additionally, there are common subjects offered for the School of Science, as well as general education courses for undergraduate students. After assuming his (her) new position, he (she) will work with Associate Professor Takashi Kikukawa in photobiology.

One Assistant Professor (full-time, fixed-term appointment for five years, renewable once for an additional five-year term. The successful candidate may be appointed to a position without a fixed term subject to a performance review.)
